Complete urinalysis is a practical test for screening kidney function, urinary tract infections and metabolic disorders. Samples are collected at your workplace in barcoded containers.
The Regulation on Health and Safety Measures in Work with Chemical Substances requires health surveillance to follow the risk assessment and to include biological monitoring where appropriate. For employees working with solvents such as paint, thinner and adhesives, the occupational physician decides which urinary marker is monitored. Turkish legislation defines a binding biological limit value only for lead, so other markers are interpreted by the physician against international references.
Analyses beyond the basic set are performed in a laboratory licensed by the Ministry of Health. Under the medical tests regulation, samples travel in a temperature-logged cold chain, are labelled and are analysed within 48 hours at most.

Is a urine test mandatory for solvent workers?
The chemicals regulation ties biological monitoring to the risk assessment and sets no fixed test list for every solvent worker. The occupational physician decides which marker to monitor based on the type and level of exposure.
When should the sample be taken?
Some markers are meaningful only in samples taken at the end of a shift or at the end of the working week. The occupational physician sets the sampling time for each marker and the screening day is planned around it.
