Like the occupational physician requirement, assigning an occupational safety specialist is mandatory for all workplaces under Article 6 of Law No. 6331. The specialist's certificate class must match the hazard class. A class A specialist is required in the very hazardous class, at least class B in the hazardous class and at least class C in the low hazard class. The transitional provision that allowed lower-class specialists to serve higher-class workplaces expired on December 31, 2024. Since January 1, 2025 an exact match is required, so reviewing your current contract on this point matters greatly.
Our specialists monitor hazard sources on site through periodic field inspections, guide risk assessment work, report near-miss and workplace accident notifications with root cause analysis, and prepare work instructions and personal protective equipment plans. In workplaces with 50 or more employees, they establish the OHS committee and run its secretariat.
Minimum working hours are planned according to the legislation. The monthly time per employee is 10 minutes in the low hazard class, 20 in the hazardous class and 40 in the very hazardous class. A full-time specialist is assigned for 1,000 or more employees in the low hazard class, 500 in the hazardous class and 250 in the very hazardous class. The visit schedule is recorded through the İSG-KATİP contract, and every visit is documented with a written field report.
