A Summary Guide for Employers

Health surveillance rules, intervals, forms and required tests

We summarized the health surveillance obligations of Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331 on a single page. It is for information only. For an assessment specific to your workplace, we plan together with your occupational physician.

Primary Regulatory Bases

The medical tests regulation and Law No. 6331 obligations are at the center of screening scope

Screening scope is not planned by package logic alone. Employee exposure, hazard class, your occupational physician's orders and the regulatory bases below are assessed together.

New legal basis

Regulation on the Procedures and Principles of Medical Tests for Employee Health Surveillance

The key regulation for selecting and conducting the medical tests applied within health surveillance and preparing the results for the occupational physician's evaluation.

Core law

Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331

The main legal basis for the employer's duties on employee health surveillance, pre-employment and periodic health examinations and fitness for work.

Mobile service framework

Mobile OHS Services Circular (2016/7)

Sets the permit, vehicle, staff and equipment conditions for on-site screening with mobile health units.

Periodic examination intervals and the 1-3-5 year rule

The frequency of periodic health examinations depends on your workplace hazard class. These intervals are upper limits. The occupational physician can set shorter intervals when needed.

Low Hazard Class

Every 5 years

Offices, retail, clerical services

Hazardous Class

Every 3 years

Most manufacturing, workshop and assembly work

Very Hazardous Class

Every year

Mining, construction, chemicals, foundries, energy

Also required regardless of the interval. Pre-employment examinations, examinations after a job change and return-to-work examinations after a work accident, an occupational disease or a long sick leave (Law No. 6331, Article 15).

What is the EK-2 form?

It is the official format for pre-employment and periodic health examination reports and appears as an annex to the Occupational Physician Regulation. The form covers the employee's history, physical examination findings and a laboratory tests section. Every test we run during mobile screening supports this section. In hazardous and very hazardous workplaces the occupational physician signs the form.

Is screening with a mobile unit legal?

Yes. The Ministry of Health Mobile OHS Services Circular (2016/7) sets the framework for health screening with mobile units at workplaces. Vehicles must be permitted by the provincial health directorate, X-ray units must be licensed and staff must hold valid certificates. All of our vehicles and teams are certified under this framework.
